  1. What is included in the charter?

  1. What are the start and finish times?

For reef fishing and sport fishing, the standard start and finish times for a morning charter are 5:30am – 12:00pm,  and 12:30pm to 6:30pm for an afternoon charter, measured from the time we pick up to the time we drop you off.

For game fishing, it is an all day affair, with the standard time being 5:30am to around 5:30pm.

Please contact us if you would like to request an adjustment to these standard times and we will do our best to accommodate the request.

  1. Where is the pickup/dropoff location?

Our standard pickup location is Mosman Bay Wharf.   You are welcome to choose another wharf that is convenient to you, although we would recommend one of the public wharfs east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, for example Kirribilli wharf or Rose Bay Wharf. The advantage of choosing a wharf east of the Harbour Bridge is that it will maximise your fishing time at sea, by reducing the journey time to reach the fishing grounds.  At the end of the trip, we drop you off to the same wharf.

 

  1. Where are the fishing grounds?

The fishing grounds are located within approximately 3 kilometres outside Sydney heads, where a large reef system exists.  The locations are selected by the skipper based on extensive prior experience fishing the reefs, to give you the best chances for a successful day of fishing.  Note that we do not fish in Sydney Harbour itself – all our charters are offshore charters beyond the heads, for dedicated deep sea fishing.

  1. What to bring?

Sunscreen, camera, snacks & drinks (all alcoholic drinks to be in cans or in wine casks – no bottles). 

We also encourage you to bring an esky/buckets to store the fish at the end of the trip, for easy carry-away.  In any case, we provide you with sealable bags to store your fish in at the end of the charter.

  1. Are lunch and refreshments included?

No.  You are encouraged to bring your own food and drinks (all alcoholic drinks to be in cans or in wine casks – no bottles). 

  1. What happens in the case of bad weather?

In cases of inclement weather (and in particular high winds), we will contact you on the afternoon before the charter to inform you of the likely weather condition and we will re-schedule the charter at no additional cost to you.  We closely monitor all relevant meteorological data on the day before the charter for this purpose.

If sudden and unexpected weather events occur whilst the charter is in motion which prevents the charter from proceeding, we are willing to re-arrange an alternative date at no additional cost.

  1. What happens after you catch a fish?

After you catch a fish, the crew can assist un-hook the fish safely.  For all legal catches, you are entitled to keep and take home your fish.  We can assist by cleaning and gutting the fish at the end of the charter, as well as providing clean bags for storage of your fish.

We encourage all customers to only keep what is intended for food, and most customers happily follow this principle.

  1. Do you need a recreational fishing licence?

No, our boat’s fishing licence covers all customers.

  1. Is a deposit required?

Yes. A 50% deposit is required to be placed on all charters in order to secure your booking. 

  1. We are a group of more than 5. Can you accommodate us?

Our vessel carries a maximum of 5 customers.  If you would like a charter on a larger vessel, we would recommend you visit www.sydneyoffshorefishing.com.

  1. What are our standard terms & conditions?

The following terms and conditions apply to all our charters:

Inclement Weather

In the event that high winds or other extreme weather conditions would make the fishing trip unsafe or extremely uncomfortable, we are happy to re-schedule your charter to a later date that is mutually convenient.

We closely monitor all relevant meteorological data on the day before the charter and will advise you on the afternoon before the charter (at approx. 4pm) if your charter is not viable, in which case we will discuss the best dates for a re-schedule.

Deposits & Cancellations

A 50% deposit is required to secure a booking.  In the event of cancellation, the deposit will be retained.

Safety

Safety procedures must be observed at all times. The Skipper's decision on the day is final in all matters relating to the vessel.

Instructions or advice given by the Skipper or crew on matters of safety must be observed by all on board and clients must, at all times, take all reasonable precautions for their own and others safety.

Neither the skipper nor crew accept any liability for any accident or injury incurred by any passenger on board the vessel engaged in fishing, angling, sightseeing, photography, filming, whilst in transit or similar activities, caused by the actions of any other passenger on board howsoever occurring.

Children under the age of 12 may only be carried under the supervision and responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times.

General fishing

While every reasonable effort is made to ensure quality fishing, we do not accept any responsibility for any circumstances beyond our control, e.g. tides and moon phases, feeding patterns of fish, nor can we guarantee any specific amount of fish caught on a given charter.  That said, in the case of reef fishing, we have a high rate of success in catching fish on the reefs and this is rarely a concern that materialises.

Damage to fishing gear

Any breakages, loss of equipment provided or damage caused on board as a result of client's misbehaviour, irresponsibility or carelessness will be charged to the client.  This does not apply to the standard loss of lines & sinkers due to snags and the like.

Injury and Compliance with Law

We shall not be liable for any death, injury or damage, loss, delay or irregularity, which may be caused by persons or conditions beyond our control. We accept no responsibility for any losses or additional expense caused by delays in changes to transport or other services, strikes, war, weather or other causes.

Clients must refrain from throwing rubbish overboard - the Disposal of Garbage at Sea Act makes this an offence.

If any passenger is found to be in possession of anything illegal; or engages in behaviour causing danger to themselves or other persons or property on board, including consumption of alcohol to excess, then he or she will be put ashore at the first opportunity and the Authorities notified as may be necessary. Any such passenger(s) shall free and release the vessel owner/skipper from any liabilities, incidental costs or responsibility arising out of any breach of this condition.
